Present on the Algerian market for more than 20 years through its products: Vallourec opens new office in Algiers

Vallourec opens a liaison office in Algiers. World leader in premium tubular solutions, mainly for the energy markets (oil and gas, electrical energy), Vallourec has an expertise that also extends to the industry sector, including mechanics, car and construction. The group offers its customers innovative global solutions adapted to the energy perspectives of the twenty-first  century, with more than 19,000 employees, integrated production units, advanced R&D and a presence in more than 20 countries.

 

Active for more than twenty years in the Algerian market, «we have continued to deepen relations with Sonatrach and main groups and associations», says Hubert Paris, Member of the Executive committee  of Vallourec and Director of the Europe/Africa region, «today, our products are used on the main hydrocarbon deposits in the country, with the third largest reserves of crude oil in Africa, and the tenth largest reserves of natural gas in the world, Algeria is for us a strategic country and Sonatrach a key partner of our Group».

 

At the beginning of 2017, Vallourec opens a new liaison office in Algiers. For Abdennour Sebki, the Director of this office in Algeria, «This will allow us to strengthen our local commitment and develop even closer ties with our Algerian customers, in order to better meet their expectations and support the development of oil and gas fields as done recently with those of Hassi Messaoud, Ourhoud and Adrar with our tubes and connections VAM».

 

In the Algerian oil and gas market, Vallourec offers a complete range of seamless tubes for wells equipment. The group also offers pipe tubes for the transport of hydrocarbons as well as tubes for petrochemical and refining plants. We also provide our customers and partners with a wide range of services such as materials expertise, support in wells design, or technical assistance. In addition, our VAM Field Service teams can intervene at any time in case of operational emergency to accompany the descent of our products in wells as we did recently on the Berkine field, says Abdennour sebki.

 

 Experience, production and services

 

Vallourec serves the Algerian market mainly from its European factories, which are vetted by Sonatrach after a demanding qualification process. «In recent years, our factories in France and Germany have been able to demonstrate their ability to meet the expectations of our Algerian customers and they will continue to do so! » Says Hubert Paris. Vallourec also has significant R&D capabilities and tests that enable it to maintain its technological leadership and respond quickly to the specific requirements of its customers. Our interlocutors tell us that the group relies, over the world, on a network of more than 200 licensees that repair local VAM connections and provide the associated accessories according to the most stringent quality and safety standards. »

 

«It is to guarantee to all its customers the same level of service that the Group has set up this global system to qualify, educate, train and audit its partners, regardless of their geographical location.  In Algeria, this network is represented by AOS based in Hassi Messaoud in the heart of the Berkine basin», Abdennour Sebki stresses.

Vallourec has thus been able to meet the challenges of operators in the deep offshore of the Gulf of Guinea, the Gulf of Mexico or for pre-salt fields off Brazil where the group has developed a new economic model based on services dedicated to the Brazilian national airline. In the United States, the answer to the problem posed by the dynamics of shale gas and oils exploitation has been to develop a complete system that goes from the design and the production of new products in dedicated factories, up to the implementation for the entire supply chain.
